Scheduling pleasant events can lead to improvements in mood and general well-being.

- Exercise. Start with a small goal for your work out, and gradually increase over time.
- Go for a short walk in the morning. Aim to go at least 4 times every week.
- Take a leisurely drive.
- Watch your favorite movie or if you prefer, go to the movies.
- Call or meet up with a friend or relative. Surround yourself with supportive and positive people.
- Greet and smile at those who you do not usually notice, like the mail-man, receptionist, cashier, or door-man.
- Pursue a hobby. Try cooking or baking. Enroll in a free art class. Try dance, Zumba, yoga, meditation or a fun sport.
- Explore a new place or treat yourself to a new experience. Go to a museum, farmers’ market, concert, sporting event, or a live show. Try hiking or biking.
- Start a small garden. Plant flowers or vegetables.
- Get in touch with your creative side. Write poetry, draw or craft.
- Pamper yourself. Enjoy a manicure, pedicure, bubble bath, hair treatment, or massage.
- Write. Send someone a thank you card, note, or letter. Start a journal.
- Evaluate your strengths. Write them down.
- List all that you are grateful for, small and big.
- Spend time with children. Perhaps a friend or a relative is in need a baby sitter for a few hours.
- Complete a less urgent task on your to do list.
- Engage in a soothing nighttime routine. Drink tea, read a book, or listen to calming music.
